Allumeria Getting Started: Your First Hour, Step by Step

The one-screen version

Flint → planks → workbench → flint pickaxe → shelter before dark → copper → spawn point. If you do those seven things in that order you will not have a bad first night, and everything after that is optional.

1. Character and world

You make a character before you make a world, and characters carry their inventory and stats between worlds. The default name is Ruby, and there are four built-in skins to pick from — see the skins guide if you want your own. When you create the world you can set a seed; different seeds generate different worlds. You always spawn at coordinates x:0, y:0.

New in Early Access: a reminder pops up telling you to check the Adventure Guide, the node tree inside the Compendium. It is worth reading. Nodes unlock as you discover things, and some of them grant achievements — those are the ones marked with a star icon.

2. Flint, wood, workbench

Look at the ground for small dark-grey rocks. Left-click them to pick up flint; you need at least five. Punch trees for logs. Open your inventory with E — the crafting menu on the right works without any station — and turn logs into planks, then planks into a workbench.

Place the workbench by holding it and right-clicking. With 5 flint and 5 planks you can make the first tools at it. Early Access improved this whole flow: the crafting menu now detects nearby workstations automatically, reads from any chest you have open, greys out recipes you are one ingredient short of, and has tabs to filter by station.

Craft in this order:

  • Flint pickaxe — stone, ore, everything underground. This is the “Miner Convenience” achievement.
  • Flint axe — trees stop being a punching exercise.
  • Flint sword — 6 damage, 0.57s cooldown. See the weapons table.
  • Hammer — changes a block’s shape rather than breaking it, which is what “Get into Shape” wants.

3. Survive the first night

When the sun sets, monsters spawn: Zombies, Skeletons, Wizards. The rule that matters is that monsters only spawn on natural blocks. A shelter floored with planks or any crafted block will not spawn anything, no matter how dark it is. Dig into a hillside or box yourself in with planks, craft a door at the workbench, and make torches (coal from caves, or wood) for light.

Forest monsters are gentle — 2 to 6 damage against a health bar that starts at 100. The reason to respect night one is not damage, it is that dying loses you the walk back.

4. Set a spawn point

Craft or find a Spawn Pointer and use it. That is the “This Bed is Very Uncomfortable” achievement, and it means death costs you seconds rather than a hike. Beds are a separate thing in Early Access: they cannot be crafted at all, only bought from the Builder NPC, and they no longer skip the night instantly — higher room comfort makes time pass faster while you sleep. Patch 0.15.3 lowered the minimum light level for comfortable sleeping from 5 to 1, so a single torch is enough.

5. Go caving

Caves are where the game opens up. Normal caves hold copper, iron, silver, gold and coal, plus chests and abandoned huts that hand out early trinkets like the Boots of Sprinting and weapons like the Boomerang. Smelt ore in a furnace into ingots, and work the pickaxe ladder upward — each tier breaks rock the previous one cannot. The full ladder is on the tools page.

Two things to grab on sight:

  • Heart Beets — each one permanently raises your maximum health. You start at 100 and can reach 200.
  • Amethyst and diamonds — deeper cave layers, and the crafting inputs for later gear.

6. Then what?

The route from here is forest → snow → desert, and each biome is gated by the previous one’s boss and pickaxe. The progression guide lays out the whole chain, and the boss guide covers the three fights.

A note on older guides. The official wiki’s own Getting Started page is still labelled “for version Alpha 0.8.4”, and much of what it describes was rebalanced in Early Access 0.15: health went from a 20-point bar to 100 (200 at maximum), every enemy and weapon was retuned, and the Alpha Shop block was removed entirely in favour of NPC shops. The steps above are the 0.15 version of that route.
