Reading these numbers after the 0.15 rebalance

Defence values only mean something next to the health pool they protect. Early Access 0.15 moved the player from 20 health points to 100, rising to 200 with Heart Beets, and rebalanced every enemy in the game at the same time. That is why a set worth 3 defence is not the joke it looks like on paper in the first hour, and why the Palladium set's 20 is not the wall it would have been under the old 20-point health bar.

Two things stack on top of your set. The Armoured Potion was buffed from 4 defence to 12 in patch 0.15.1 — that is nearly a full armour tier for five minutes, and it is the cheapest way to survive a first boss attempt. Freezing damage went the other way in the same patch, from 8 to 30 damage every two seconds, and armour does not help with it: you need the Frozen Heart trinket, crafted from ice cap mushrooms, cobalt and a heart beet.

Set names and defence values come from the official Allumeria wiki armour table (allumeria.wiki.gg). The rebalance, the potion buff, the freezing change and the thorns recipe change are all from Infinimelon's Steam patch notes for 0.15.0 and 0.15.1.
