Allumeria Crafting: Stations, Recipes and the Compendium

Where recipes live now

Allumeria does not ship a printed recipe list, and it no longer needs one: the Compendium has a Recipes tab, sitting next to the Adventure Guide and Fish tabs. That is the in-game reference, and it is the first place to look for anything specific.

What follows is how the crafting system behaves, which is the part that is easy to get wrong.

The stations

  • Inventory — the crafting panel on the right of your inventory (E) handles the basics: logs to planks, planks to a workbench.
  • Workbench — the first real station. Place it, right-click it. Five flint and five planks gets you the first tool set.
  • Furnace — smelts ore into ingots. Everything from copper up runs through here.
  • Potion Station — all eleven potions.
  • Decoration Station — decorative blocks, which matter more than they sound now that NPC Comfort reads the blocks in a room.

What Early Access changed about crafting

The 0.15 “Better Inventory” pass is genuinely large, and it invalidates a lot of older advice:

  • The crafting menu automatically detects nearby workstations — you no longer click a station to use it.
  • It reads from a chest you have open, so you can craft from chest plus inventory together and never need to take materials out.
  • Recipes you have some ingredients for now show greyed out rather than being hidden, so you can see what you are missing.
  • Tabs filter recipes by crafting station.
  • Separate hotkeys for auto-stacking (shift-click by default) and auto-deleting (ctrl-click), because those used to be tied to the place and drop modifiers and people were deleting items by accident.
  • Icon buttons are bigger and have tooltips.

Patch 0.15.0 also fixed a bug with holding right-click to craft repeatedly, so if you learned to avoid that, you can stop.

Recipes that are worth knowing by heart

  • Ominous Deer Skull — 10 Skull Fragments at a workbench. Summons the Forest Spirit.
  • Forest Ingot — takes thorns rather than gold since 0.15. Thorns drop from undergrowth and forest dungeon enemies.
  • Frozen Heart — ice cap mushrooms combined with cobalt and a heart beet. Freezing immunity, and effectively required before the Snow Dungeon.
  • Beds are not craftable at all. They are bought from the Builder NPC. This is the single most common “where is the recipe” question in the current build, and the answer is that there is not one.

When a recipe seems missing

Check three things before assuming a bug: whether the station is nearby (auto-detect has a radius), whether the recipe is greyed out because you are one ingredient short, and whether the item is one of the ones that comes from a shop or a chest rather than a recipe — the Alpha Shop block was removed entirely in 0.15, and its role was handed to the NPC shops.
